Evaluation Question 4

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

For are A2 media coursework we used a variety of different media technologies to help us construct a good base, plan and end to are work.

To help us with are research stage we relied largely on the Internet as are source of information. We used the Internet to help research target audience, trailers; genres etc for are research portfolio. We found that the Internet was a key tool for us as it provided us with a wide selection of mostly accurate information that we could construct into something of our own. The Internet enables us to look at film websites and other websites that were of are interest and relevance to the specific section of the task. Additionally, we also used a few books from which we found in the library and are class room to help with the genre research as they gave us key information on ‘Chick Flick’ which changed the way we done some of the planning and final posters. Using both the Internet and media books not only helped with our research it also helped us to learn things that we didn’t previously know.

Secondly, the media technologies we used to help us with are planning stage we used an ordinary digital camera. We done this to get still setting shots which help us to plan and imaging where we were going to be filming are trailer and have an idea of what it was going to look like as a moving image. Using the camera we look still images of a variety of places on our location at different angle to help us to achieve the best look for are film and its chosen genre. We feel that this was a good idea because it helped us to maintain the image we wanted to attain. Additionally, to help us with the planning stage we used Microsoft word to create a table so that we could plan what days we were going to research, film and edit our trailer. This helped us to keep organised so that we could meet the deadline.

Thirdly, to do the evaluation questions we used a computer to type them us and the Internet to post them on are blog. We found that there wasn’t really any new media technologies we needed to use to complete the evaluation stage of are coursework but we did find that all the technologies we used to complete all the research helped us to complete them as we found we had already got all the information require but just needed to apply it to the questions.

Lastly, for the constructions of our trailer we used a variety of media technologies. First we used a camera to film all the clips that we needed from our storyboard to create the trailer. We used the school media camera to film at the different locations. To help us create the look that we wanted for are trailer we used a ‘Dolly’, this made it a lot easy to create smooth, controlled walking shots that helped us get a clear, smooth clip of the best quality. Also when filming we used a tripod so that the shots would not shake whilst filming, this piece of media technology came in handy when we were filming on uneven grounds such as the football pitch. Additionally, to edit are film we used a programme called ‘Storm edit’. This media technology enabled us to shorted are clips, add effects, change the motion, add sound, titles and more to create an effective ‘Chick Flick’ trailer for out coursework. Finally, we also used the still camera again to take still photos for are magazine cover and poster. We used 2 different digital cameras to try and get the clearest shot possible which would portray the look we needed for are film.
